Nintendo: Mario Kart 8 has a long life ahead of it

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has stated he is confident that the racing game will have a long life ahead of it, using the DS and Wii iterations as examples of how popular the series has been. Twitch considers bringing app to 3DS and Vita

Despite Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime stating that 30 minutes of live gameplay is no fun, a recent interview with Twitch COO Kevin Lin has him stating that the company might bring its app into 3DS and Vita, though it will probably only be watch only as handhelds won’t be capable of playing games and broadcasting at the same time.

3DS tops the Japanese weekly sales charts, again

It’s extremely rare that the 3DS doesn’t top the weekly Japanese sales charts. Then again, it’s rare to see the Wii U outselling the PS4 in North America.

Anyway, the 3DS LL (the Japanese version of the XL) sold 22.8K, while the standard 3DS sold a smidge under 5.1K. The 2DS has not launched Japan, though.

Meanwhile, in runner-up position is the Vita with just under 22.2K sold, while the Wii U sold 10.6K. The PS4 sold just slightly more than the PS3, it sold 8K compared to the PS3’s 7.4K.

The Vita TV sold 2.4K, while the original PSP at 1.4K. The Xbox 360, which does extremely well in the US, has sold 201 units this week. Microsoft’s consoles don’t ever do well in the region, with the original Xbox selling just 2 million in a span of 3 years, while the 360 only sold 1.5 million in the span between 2005 and 2011. That’s probably why the Xbox One hasn’t launched yet in Japan.

Nintendo will distribute Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in PAL regions

Nintendo and Capcom have teamed up to create Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, sequel to the critically acclaimed Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (duh) in 2012 (which was also distributed by Nintendo in PAL regions, which is EU and Australia, by the way), however the game is not launching for Wii U this time around. Anyway, look out for the game in 2015.

Popular Japanese game Yokai Watch 2 will have a Nintendo Direct air July 4

The first game in the series has sold consistently well in the charts, so the Japanese arm of Nintendo has decided to air a Nintendo Direct episode for the second game in the series on July 4, though it will probably be in Japanese.

SEGA to release Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2 for Western markets

It’s not that I’m excited for the game, but I just felt that someone reading this would be. Anyway, this marks the first ever Western release for the series, so if you’ve been wanting to play it, rejoice! Launching as Project Mirai Remix, it’s set to launch on 3DS next year, so a bit of waiting is involved.

Final Fantasy Explorers director speaks with Famitsu, reveals more details

Final Fantasy Explorers (3DS) director Atsushi Hashimoto, along with project manager Takahiro Abe, recently spoke to Famitsu about the upcoming game. Hashimoto describes the game as an action RPG Final Fantasy with a possible multiplayer mode, but he’s quick to note that the game is different from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
